SBR INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES

ORTHOPAEDICS

Restoring movement through musculoskeletal science, clinical judgement and coordinated care.
Orthopaedics connects anatomy, biomechanics and clinical practice to help future physicians understand injury, preserve mobility and support safe recovery across all age groups.
The Department of Orthopaedics at SBR Institute of Medical Sciences is planned to develop a strong understanding of conditions affecting bones, joints, muscles, ligaments and the spine while promoting effective diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and patient-centred care.

Musculoskeletal Health Across the Lifespan

Learners explore fractures, joint disorders, sports injuries, congenital conditions, infections and spinal problems while developing an understanding of musculoskeletal health across different stages of life.

Learning Through Examination and Skills

Learners engage in lectures, case discussions and clinical demonstrations while developing skills in musculoskeletal examination, injury assessment, splinting and basic fracture and trauma management.

Mobility, Recovery and Team-Based Care

Learners understand pain assessment, rehabilitation, safe referral and restoration of function while developing awareness of orthopaedic procedures and coordinated multidisciplinary clinical care.

Key Highlights

Comprehensive Musculoskeletal Framework

Planned learning in trauma, fractures, joint disorders, spine conditions, congenital problems, infections and bone tumours.

Clinical Examination and Imaging

Structured practice will strengthen limb and joint examination, injury assessment and interpretation of common musculoskeletal imaging.

Fracture and Trauma Principles

Introduces initial stabilisation, immobilisation, neurovascular assessment and timely referral for orthopaedic emergencies.

Operative and Minimally Invasive Awareness

Builds conceptual understanding of fixation, joint replacement, arthroscopy, deformity correction and spine procedures.

Rehabilitation and Functional Recovery

Emphasises pain control, physiotherapy principles, complication prevention and coordinated return to mobility and daily activity.
