SBR INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES

ANAESTHESIA

Promoting safety before, during and after procedures through vigilance, physiology and teamwork.
Anaesthesia integrates physiology, pharmacology and acute-care skills to prepare future physicians for safe perioperative decisions, pain relief, resuscitation and critical-care awareness.
The Department of Anaesthesia at SBR Institute of Medical Sciences is planned to develop a strong understanding of patient care before, during and after diagnostic or surgical procedures while emphasising anaesthetic safety, monitoring and perioperative pain management.

Perioperative Medicine and Patient Safety

Learners explore pre-anaesthetic assessment, risk evaluation, general and regional anaesthesia, sedation and airway management while understanding physiological monitoring, recovery and perioperative pain relief.

Simulation and Clinical Reasoning

Learners engage in case discussions, clinical demonstrations and simulation-based practice while developing skills in airway assessment, vital-sign interpretation, equipment safety and emergency response.

Critical Care and Pain Management

Learners understand organ support, sepsis care, trauma resuscitation, respiratory and cardiac emergencies while developing awareness of pain management, postoperative critical care and multidisciplinary practice.

Key Highlights

Comprehensive Anaesthesia Framework

Planned learning in pre-anaesthetic evaluation, general and regional anaesthesia, sedation, recovery and perioperative medicine.

Assessment and Physiological Monitoring

Builds understanding of risk evaluation, patient preparation, vital-sign interpretation and early recognition of clinical deterioration.

Airway and Resuscitation Skills

Structured practice will introduce airway assessment, basic airway manoeuvres, oxygen delivery and systematic emergency response.

Critical-Care Principles

Introduces organ support, sepsis, trauma, respiratory failure, cardiovascular emergencies and postoperative critical-care concepts.

Pain, Safety and Team-Based Care

Emphasises pain-management principles, safety checks, infection prevention, communication and coordinated perioperative decision-making.
